Inspiration: Bohemian Romance

Bohemian weddings have become somewhat a cliche. If you want to add life to this trend for your upcoming wedding, we have some ideas that will make your boho wedding a dream come true. The trick, we've discovered, is pairing soft lace & floral details with bold colors that make your venue pop. A bohemian wedding that channels the spirit of the 1960's will make your laid-back affair something that guests will talk about forever.

Here are 5 easy ways to make your bohemian wedding stand apart from the crowd!

~Bride~

A bohemian bride can be found in an elegant, feminine and free-flowing gown. Silhouettes that are perfect for this wedding include A-line styles with sweetheart necklines & tiered skirts. For fabrics, stuck to soft lace and subtle embellishments. The Mikaella 2070 and 2064 styles are the perfect gowns for the bohemian bride. These graceful gowns have the perfect amount of details that still channel a romantic, elegant and free spirited nature.

~Bridesmaids~

For a Bohemian Wedding we are loving a soft, neutral color combination for the bridesmaids. Champagne, ivory, sage green, & gold all give off an earthy/natural feel for a bohemian bridal party. These colors are perfect base for brightly colored, bohemian accessories that bring a necessary pop of color! Want to be even more bohemian? Choose lace or floral patterns for a beautiful, unique touch. Long chiffon gowns are a great style for this theme and provide your party with a look that is at once breezy, carefree, and exceptionally elegant.

~Beauty~

Bohemian beauty is all about adding fun accessories! Highlight your natural beauty with gold shimmer eye shadow and/or golden highlights to give your skin an essential glow. Keep in mind - the natural look is always about looking clean and fresh, never overdone!

For ultra-bohemian hair, opt for something wavy and undone. We love the look of a waterfall braid with some messy waves for that effortlessly beautiful look. If you are feeling more bohemian, you could always incorporate flowers into your braid, or wear a lace crown to embrace your inner bohemian princess.

~Décor~

Having an outdoor wedding in the woods, countryside, or romantic backyard will make your bohemian wedding feel magical. When deciding on colors the limit is endless, you want your wedding to be colorful and vibrant! Shy away from trendy blush tones and use use bright blues, purples, yellows, oranges and pinks to pop against the earth tones in your venue.

 ~Details~

Flowers, lace and vibrant colors make this bohemian wedding a dream come true. Wildflowers are the perfect decoration and detail for an outdoor wedding. Whether they are used to line the aisle, placed in ice cubes, hanging  from trees/the ceiling, or given to guests to pin in their hair, they are great detail to add to this free spirited wedding. Other details that can be added include dream catchers, candles, glass vases, wood, picture frames & feathers. The trick is to have fun and create a wedding suitable for any flower child bride.

Vendors We Love - The Barre Code

We think all of our brides and bridesmaids are beautiful just the way they are. However, we hear tons of girls in our boutique tell us how they are planning to start "Shedding for the Wedding" and want to kick their workout into high gear in the months before they walk down the aisle. We totally understand, every woman wants to feel the best on her wedding day!

For Milwaukee brides and bridesmaids who are looking for something new to keep them in shape, we highly recommend trying The Barre Code! Their Third Ward studio is located on Water Street, just a few blocks away from our boutique.

Don't let the name fool you, this isn't a "dance class" - The Barre Code offers various classes that focus on cardio, strength training, and restoration. While the base of their classes focuses on barre work (to get your muscles long and lean like a ballerina) they also have everything from high-energy Boot Camps to Yoga classes on their schedule. The trendy downtown studio is chic from the outside, but trust us, there is hard work taking place behind its doors!

Want to give it a try? Miss Ruby Boutique now has certificates in store for a Free Barre Class! Pick one up for yourself (and your friends) so you and your bridesmaids can feel the burn.

Inspiration: Wisconsin Vineyard Wedding

We may not be Napa, but Wisconsin has some pretty great wines. Many of them can be found in the Door County region of our little state - a picturesque place where time seems to stop & Wisconsin's landscapes are dotted with gorgeous cottages, cabins, restaurants, and wineries. The talented team at Generations Wedding Flowers & Photography recently borrowed one of our gowns for a Styled Shoot in a Door County Vineyard. I'm sure we don't even have to say it, but the photos were stunning! It's easy to see why so many Milwaukee brides are flocking to this part of our state for a "destination wedding" in their own backyard.

Take a look below to see how we would style a beautiful wedding in a Wisconsin vineyard.

- Bridal -

The Wtoo "Pallas" is a great option for a Wisconsin vineyard bride. The delicate lace accents of this dress gives it the right amount of detail to keep the dress simple, romantic & elegant for an outdoor wedding. Plus, the lace details will "pop" in an outdoor setting!

-Bridesmaids-

Colors that we love for this vineyard themed wedding include muted earth tones such as mint green, mauve, and neutral pinks. Floor-length bridesmaid dresses are sometimes seen as more formal, but we love the long, elegant look they provide, especially in outdoor venues and locales. These colors and style add to the elegant and romantic feel of the wedding!

-Beauty-

To add to the outdoor vibe, incorporating a braid into your hairstyle is a lovely touch. Whether you are doing a messy up-do or long waves, a braid with flowers is the perfect beauty accessory for this earthy wedding. When picking out jewelry, less is more for this occasion. Adding a strand of pearls or a simple diamond necklace will ensure the bling doesn't distract from the beautiful bride!

-Décor-

Having your wedding at a vineyard provides you with the green leaves and beautiful grape vines, and  these aspects are the perfect place to pull your color inspiration from! Not to mention, the breathtaking scenery of your venue will provide an idyllic backdrop for photos. The location of a vineyard wedding will compliment your décor create a fairytale setting.

-Details-

Corkscrews, wine bottles, grapes,  and wine barrels are the perfect details to make your wedding details extra special and fun. Subtle touches help enhance the overall theme. For  example, corkscrews can be personalized for party favors, whereas wine corks can be incorporated into flower vases, place holders, or even a heart-shaped decoration - the ideas are endless and inexpensive!
