It's time to add some more style to your wardrobe

Last night I attended an old movie showing. The movie was Casablanca, the 1943, black and white romantic drama. While watching it, I couldn’t help but notice that in every scene ladies were always dressed up. They were wearing dresses, pearls, and large hats. When I looked at what I was wearing, it was nothing close to that - black pants and a cheetah print sweater.

It’s not hard though to get our style back to as classic looking as Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca. You’ll have to stop in soon to see our many ready-to-wear dresses available. They are easy to wear and could step up your style. It may be time to ditch the simple black pants and top – well you don’t have to completely ditch that ensemble, but sprinkling in some dresses into your wardrobe sure would add some style! I know, I know…we hear a lot of “I never wear dresses.” But maybe it is time to start! Plus wearing dresses is so easy. You don’t have to worry about what pants go with what top. And with some of these extra little styling tips you’ll be looking better than before you ditched those black pants!

If the style of wearing large hats is a bit much, you could add a headband to your look. One with feathers or a bow gives your outfit a little something extra, without going over the top.

Headbands by Jaxie (available at Miss Ruby)

Pearls are even something we could implement into our everyday wear. They are extremely classy looking, even if they aren’t real! And larger pearls or flowers on the necklace make them seem a bit less formal.

Necklaces by Jaxie (available at Miss Ruby)

See how easy it is to have a classy style, just by wearing a cute dress and an accessory or two!

Dresses of the Week

EVERY DAY
Cotton Sateen Ivory Floral Mini Dress
Ooooh, this dress has got me dreaming of summer. And so has the amazing weather! With temps supposedly going to be in the 60's you could practically sport this dress this week!  This strapless dress has a playful and colorful print and an adorable feminine ruffle on the hem.  It zips up in back and has a band of elastic so it makes this strapless dress super easy to wear.  Available in S, M & L.

WEDDING DAY
Designer: Alvina Valenta   Style: 9046   Fabric: Chiffon
Another one of my new favorites! This chiffon convertible knee length dress is so sweet and feminine. The dress has a halter neckline with self floral treatment around the neck and a criss-cross in the back. And to make this dress convertible it comes with a ruched self clasp belt to wear at the natural waist. So basically you’ve got two dresses in one. Pretty sweet!

We're going to market ... want to add anything to our list?

One of my favorite responsibilities as the owner of Miss Ruby is going to market to order for the upcoming season. It can be a bit of an overwhelming experience but it is a shoppers paradise!  Aisles and aisles of the newest clothing and accessories. Eeeeck! I can hardly contain myself.  But next week the Miss Ruby gals will be heading to Chicago once again and we can't wait to find out what is in store for Fall 2010.  We will be buying for Fall 2010 for both bridal and ready-to-wear.

Before we head to market we'd love to hear from y'all on what you'd like to see more of in the boutique. For both ready-to-wear and bridal. More casual dresses? Different price points? Colors? Sizing?  Long vs. short? Please let us know your feedback. We are here to serve you and want to offer you the best!  Please share with us by commenting on the blog or email us at info@missrubyboutique.com.  We can't wait to hear from you!!
