Inspiration: Wisconsin Vineyard Wedding

We may not be Napa, but Wisconsin has some pretty great wines. Many of them can be found in the Door County region of our little state - a picturesque place where time seems to stop & Wisconsin's landscapes are dotted with gorgeous cottages, cabins, restaurants, and wineries. The talented team at Generations Wedding Flowers & Photography recently borrowed one of our gowns for a Styled Shoot in a Door County Vineyard. I'm sure we don't even have to say it, but the photos were stunning! It's easy to see why so many Milwaukee brides are flocking to this part of our state for a "destination wedding" in their own backyard.

- Bridal -

 The Wtoo "Pallas" is a great option for a Wisconsin vineyard bride. The delicate lace accents of this dress gives it the right amount of detail to keep the dress simple, romantic & elegant for an outdoor wedding. Plus, the lace details will "pop" in an outdoor setting!

Colors that we love for this vineyard themed wedding include muted earth tones such as mint green, mauve, and neutral pinks. Floor-length bridesmaid dresses are sometimes seen as more formal, but we love the long, elegant look they provide, especially in outdoor venues and locales. These colors and style add to the elegant and romantic feel of the wedding!

To add to the outdoor vibe, incorporating a braid into your hairstyle is a lovely touch. Whether you are doing a messy up-do or long waves, a braid with flowers is the perfect beauty accessory for this earthy wedding. When picking out jewelry, less is more for this occasion. Adding a strand of pearls or a simple diamond necklace will ensure the bling doesn't distract from the beautiful bride!

  Having your wedding at a vineyard provides you with the green leaves and beautiful grape vines, and  these aspects are the perfect place to pull your color inspiration from! Not to mention, the breathtaking scenery of your venue will provide an idyllic backdrop for photos. The location of a vineyard wedding will compliment your décor create a fairytale setting.

Corkscrews, wine bottles, grapes,  and wine barrels are the perfect details to make your wedding details extra special and fun. Subtle touches help enhance the overall theme. Anyone woman who is engaged knows that brides-to-be are in front of the camera 24/7. Think about it - there are bridal shower shots, bachelorette selfies, and very expensive wedding photos on the horizon. Engagement photos are just the beginning!

Milwaukee is full of big name lash studios that can make lots of promises, but as a boutique business ourselves, we know that bigger isn't always better. That's where Lauren Elizabeth Barbick from "If Looks Could Kill" comes in. This local lady knows lashes - she is one of the few beauticians in the area who actually specializes in lash extensions, meaning that they are her full time job.

Curve Trunk Show - FAQ

Miss Ruby Boutique is excited to host its very first Curve Trunk Show

taking place February 26 - 28!

If you are a curvy or full-figured bride who wants to know more about our Trunk Show or have questions about bridal gown shopping in general, you've come to the right place! We've compiled a list of FAQ's to address any questions you may have!

That way, you can learn more about this special event before scheduling an appointment!

What Exactly is the Curve Trunk Show?

We always have a selection of plus-size samples in store, but our Trunk Show was designed to give brides sizes 18 - 24 the most extensive selection of gowns possible. During the Trunk Show, we will have a selection of fabulous gowns and accessories in sizes 18 - 24 that we don't usually have in store for trying on. 

What Designers Will You Carry?

Our Curve Trunk Show will feature gowns primarily from two designers. We will have a selection of dresses from the Wtoo Curve Collection - which features soft, bohemian styles that are right on-trend. We will also carry a selection of gowns from Robert Bullock Bride - a New York-based designer who always designs with high-quality fabrics and thoughtful, classic silhouettes. 

What Can I Expect at My Appointment?

During your 90-minute appointment you will meet with your stylist, and she will give you an introduction to the store and our selection of bridal gowns. Your stylist will serve as your helper throughout the entire 90 minutes, making sure your gowns are pinned correctly, accessories are added as needed, and all your questions are answered. When you find your gown and say "YES!" to the dress, we're also happy to pop champagne and toast with you and your loved ones!

What If I Fall In Love With a Gown That Isn't Part of the Trunk Show?

Your choices are definitely not limited to our Trunk Show gowns. If you see another gown you love, let your stylist know! Nearly all of our gowns can be ordered up to a size 32, no matter the size of our in-store sample. 

Will My Stylist Be In the Fitting Room With Me?

We always recommend that brides allow stylists to assist them in the fitting rooms. It not only ensures that our gowns are properly zipped and clipped, but also gives our brides a personal, boutique-style experience. Helping brides in and out of gowns is a part of their job on a daily basis and they know the best way to help. With that said, if you are hesitant at all about your stylist joining you in the fitting room, let her know! 

I'm Nervous to Try on Wedding Gowns - How Can I Prepare for my Appointment?
Before your appointment, look online to familiarize yourself with popular styles as well as the styles we will have in store. With that being said, keep an open mind and try on styles outside of your comfort zone - thats how so many brides find their perfect dress!

What Undergarments Should I Wear?
Wearing proper undergarments is also key. If you know that you are going to be wearing spanks or similar undergarments - bring them with you to your appointment! If you are unsure of your undergarments, we recommend a nude, strapless bra with minimal pushup.

Who Should I Bring Along With Me?
Be thoughtful about who you bring with you to your appointment. If there are friends or family members who must be present when you say "YES!" be sure to bring them with you! Many of our gown samples will be in store for this weekend only, so you won't be able to recreate that special moment if you try to come back at another time or day.

February Sample Sale - FAQs

You don't have to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks.

If you are a bride who has high-end taste but is still trying to stick to a budget, a sample sale is something that you simply must take advantage of. Our last sample sale was such a success that we wanted to offer another for any future brides who didn't have wedding gowns on their radar the last time around.

What Exactly Is A Sample Sale?

We get asked this question a lot, so if you aren't sure what a sample sale is, you are definitely not alone!

A Sample Sale is an event where the gowns we have in store ("samples" as they are called in the bridal industry) are heavily discounted in price. Typically when brides purchase a wedding gown, she places an order with a designer and we have a dress in her size shipped to our store. At a sample sale, you take the dress we have in store home with you when you purchase.

Why Are You Selling Your Sample Dresses? 
We love all of our samples, but we simply run out of space! A Sample Sale is a win-win for our boutique and our brides, because it means we get to clear some space on our racks and our customers can get high quality gowns for a bargain.

I'm Not A Size 0 - Can I Still Buy A Sample?
Absolutely! A majority of our Sample gowns are bridal sizes 8, 10 or 12 - depending on the designer, that translates to a street size 6-10. We also have a small number of plus-size samples, ranging from size 18-20.

Is There Something Wrong With Your Samples?
Our samples are still very much in style - from bohemian dresses to breathtaking ballgowns, there is something for everyone. They have all been previously tried on by brides, so while some of our samples are still in pristine condition, others are a little more "well-loved." We offer information for local dry cleaners and seamstresses to all of our brides, however, most of our samples look as good as new.

I Just Started Bridal Shopping - Should I Visit the Sample Sale?
Our boutique welcomes all brides to come to our Sample Sale, but we find that this event is best for brides who are ready to make a decision in regards to purchasing their gown. We hate it when someone falls in love with a sample gown (and it's incredible price) and it sells while she is trying to decide if it's "The One." Because of the nature of our sale, if you want to get a like-new gown at a heavily discounted price, it's best to be open to buying that day.

Wonderful World of Weddings Recap

We had a great time at the Wonderful World of Weddings, an annual event that showcases Southeastern Wisconsin's best wedding vendors. Take a look below at some behind-the-scene photos from this years event!

The Booth

This year, we really wanted the gorgeous look and feel of our boutique to be reflected in our display. We took some antique accessories that are usually scattered around our store and paired them with a glitzy gold backdrop, which sparkled as brightly as our bridal belts!

The Fashion Show

We were honored to have our gowns featured in the big fashion show! The stage was beautiful and the models were incredibly entertaining (especially the kids!) Judging from all of the cheering in the crowd, everyone enjoyed the show!

The Vendors

Some of our favorite Milwauke vendors were present, too! From gorgeous displays to interactive photo booths, everyone who attended definitely brought their A-Game!
