What bridesmaid fabric is best for summer weddings?

Even though this summer has yet to prove it our summers typically can be pretty hot and sticky!   If you are having a summer wedding you really want to think about what fabric you will be putting your bridesmaids in, especially if any part of the wedding is outside. The lighter the fabric the better and the less fabric the better. So for summer weddings we typically recommend shorter dresses.  If you want to go with a long, elegant look then it is even more crucial to stick to a lighter weight fabric.

Fabrics we recommend:
1.  Chiffon - the lightest of the fabrics and the most flowy. This fabric will flow in the breeze, is very lightweight and won't stick to your body.

2.  Silk Shantung or Dupioni - this is still a lighter weight fabric but will offer a little more structure. Because the fabric is natural it will be breathable and comfortable. And of course beautiful!

3.  Cotton - an unusual fabric in the bridal world but a fabric that most of us wear every day!  Many bridesmaid collections have introduced this fabric. Again, it is a natural fabric and is very light, comfortable and breathable.

4.  Tissue Taffeta - tissue taffeta is a lighter weight taffeta that could still work for summer weddings. You'll get a little movement with the fabric and it is not as stiff and heavy as a satin or a regular taffeta.
