Photos of Our New Boutique!

After being open for just over a month, it is safe to say that we are settling into our new boutique quite nicely! We have gotten great feedback from our customers about our new space in the Pritzlaff - Nothing could possibly make us happier, because our brides always come first!

If you haven't seen the new store yet, be sure to stop by our Miss Ruby Housewarming Party on December 11th from 6-8pm. It's a can't-be-missed event where we shut down our store and use the space to celebrate instead!

Be sure to RSVP to the Housewarming Party if you plan on attending -

Bridal Style: Separates

When most people think of bridal gowns, they think of exactly that: a gown. However, the latest trend in bridal gowns may take you by surprise - ultra-trendy brides are now opting for separates when it comes to looking beautiful on their big day.

If the thought of bridal separates makes you cringe, we beg you to reconsider. There are some spectacular combinations of tops and bottoms that range from whimsical/bohemian to timeless/traditional.

Take a look at how other brides have been styling their separates seamlessly and you may just find yourself mixing and matching a corset and skirt.

Dress of the Week: James Clifford J11441

This week's dress of the week comes courtesy of the James Clifford Collection and is one of our newest samples from their most recent collection-- style J11441!

This strapless style is a modified mermaid silhouette and has an all over lace pattern.  The lace itself is very unique and intricate--a staple of the James Clifford collection!  The sweetheart neckline and hemline both feature scalloped lace as a beautiful detail, and the dress itself has a beaded natural waistline (although in the photos we added a James Clifford belt for even more sparkle!) The train on this dress is chapel length and creates just the right amount of drama for your walk down the aisle!

We love the scalloped lace along the hemline--so detailed!

Buttons down the back add the perfect amount of vintage glam to this gown! Plus notice the beading along the natural waist!
This dress is perfect for the bride that loves unique details on classic silhouettes--the mermaid fit is gorgeous on so many body types! The uniqueness of the lace will let the bride stand out on her big day and fit wonderfully into a variety of venues--from traditional to outdoor!

A Miss Ruby Ordering Timeline

To all of our recently engaged and soon to be Miss Ruby Brides - we have some key dates to think about when tackling the process of planning your wedding and picking out your dresses. Whether it is going to be a 2013 wedding or if you are planning on a long engagement, here are some key planning deadlines to keep in mind.

After the Engagement
After the initial announcements and celebrations are over, start thinking about the colors, styles, and details you want at your wedding. For brides who have been planning this their whole lives, this is easy! For those who haven't, start looking at wedding blogs and magazines for ideas.

9-10 Months Before the Wedding
This is when we recommend ordering your both wedding and bridesmaids dresses, as they take up to 4 months to arrive.  Take time to look at bridal magazines for gown ideas, but also don't be afraid to try on different styles and shapes once you get into the store. Our bridal consultants are willing to help you narrow down your gown options so you end up with a wedding gown you love.

By this time, you should already have your bridal party selected. It is especially important to get the bridesmaids dress order started now, because their order can't be placed until all bridesmaids have paid.

5-6 Months Before the Wedding
At about this time your dresses will arrive at Miss Ruby. Once we give you a call that your dress has arrived, we recommend picking it up at a time when you can take a few minutes to try on your dress before you take it home. This ensures that the dress is fitting properly.

This is when you would also set up your first alterations appointment. Our in-store seamstress is available by appointment.

3-4 Months Before the Wedding
If you didn't do this at your initial appointment, take the time to pick out bridal accessories such as belts, hair pieces, or veils. Every month we host a bridal styling night at our store - it is a casual and fun event where local jewelry designers and our very own Jackie from Jaxie Accessories are in-store and ready to work with you. We don't require a formal appointment, just that you RSVP so we know how many people to expect and how much champagne to pour.

1-2 Months Before the Wedding
At this time, you should be finishing up with your alterations appointments and be able to take home your dress in the exact size and condition that it will be at your wedding. We supply garment bags so that your dresses can be stored properly before the wedding. This also allows a few months of "wiggle-room" just in case last minute changes need to be made.

After the Wedding
Don't forget to send us pictures of your wedding! We invest time in your wedding vision and we LOVE seeing the finished product! We also can feature your wedding on our blog as one of our Real Weddings as an inspiration for other brides!

Just in . . .

The Belize gown by Watters has just arrived! This soft lace, strapless gown with a delicate puddle train is pictured here with a java ribbon belt. Lace covered buttons trail all the way down to the dresses beautiful skirt seam detail. Want to add a little color to the gown? The lace overlays a silky charmeuse lining of which you can choose different colors. We suggest the topaz lining for a subtle champagne effect.

If you are looking for a dress that is simple in its elegance & easy to wear, schedule an appointment today to try on this fabulous gown.
