Pictures from the Bridal Race

We have plenty of brides who want to be comfortable in their wedding dress, but comfortable enough to run a race in their dress? That we haven't seen before.

Turns out, every year in Serbia a "Bridal Race" takes place, where brides to be strap on their running shoes and their dresses and sprint through the streets of Belgrade to the finish line. Their motivation to be the winner is of course wedding related, as the 1st place finisher wins an all-expenses-paid wedding. So as you can imagine, although the pictures are hilarious, the stakes are serious for these ladies. We have a feeling that plenty of brides we have met would run a few miles for a free wedding!

Enjoy the pictures below and read the full story about the "Bridal Race" here. Could you run a mile (or even a yard) in your wedding gown? Would you even want to? Let us know in the comments below.

A little Something Blue

We've all heard the phrase, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." But what if your wedding colors don't include blue?

There are many fresh and exciting ways to incorporate this important pop of color into your bridal styling. Whether it is obvious (like a blue bouquet) or something more subdued (like blue embroidery on the inner lining of a gown), a hint of blue somewhere unexpected is a sure way to give new life to an old tradition. Check out the ways "something blue" can become something memorable for your big day.

Talk to our Miss Ruby Boutique consultants at our next Bridal Styling Night about how to make your something blue something special.

A day at the boutique

Every day at the boutique is different. Whether we are blogging, shopping for styles for the upcoming season, researching trends or working with customers we are always facing something new, exciting & different when we come to work!  We thought it might be fun to share with you every once and a while what we are up to here at the boutique. Kind of like a little glimpse into our daily life at the boutique!

Recently we had a wonderful woman named Jodie stop in looking for something unique - her 25th anniversary party was coming up and she needed something that said “bride” but stuck with the easy, beachy theme of her party.

After trying on a few different options, she stepped out of the dressing room in a tea-length Aria silk shantung dress, and it was obvious to everyone she had found a perfect dress for the occasion. “I glow in this one” she said.

After finding the dress, it was on to finding the perfect accessories. She added a beaded pearl Pronovias belt and a pearl and feather hair accessory by Jaxie to give the dress a subtle sparkle. Everything came together perfectly – so perfectly, in fact, she purchased her dress and accessories right off of the rack, and was able to walk out of Miss Ruby with a complete outfit in hand.

We had such a great time working with Jodie and wish her all the best with her 25th anniversary! And we'd love to help you out too! If you are looking for a dress for your special occasion, all of us at Miss Ruby Boutique are happy to help you find it. Remember it doesn't have to be a traditional wedding! We have women in all stages of their lives visit Miss Ruby in search of the perfect dress.
