Before Walking Down the Aisle, Read This Book!

We know that finding a dress can be a challenge to some, but finding a perfect man to be waiting for you at the end of the aisle is even harder!

We found "My Little Book of Whether or Not He's Worth It" by Brittany Bailey on an adorable blog entitled Lace & Lollipops, and wanted to share it with all our brides. Inspired by the famous book "He's Just Not That Into You," Miss Bailey compiled a pocket-sized guide of qualities that are a must in the man worth marrying. If you are single, they are great things to look for. If you are married (or about to be), they are a great reminder of all the wonderful things that made you fall for your groom in the first place. And the best part? There is a link on her blog so that you can print out the booklet and share it with your girlfriends!

We love the ribbon binding!
Get your own copy here.

Check out "My Little Book of Whether or Not He's Worth It," and let us know in the comments what you think should be added to the list.

Wedding Inspiration: Colorblocking

If you are a fellow fashionista, colorblocking is a familiar idea. Popular for the last few years, bold, contrasting colors on dresses, shoes, and handbags can be found at almost any retail store in the country. But bringing this trend to weddings is a fresh take on a familiar concept! Brides already love to incorporate color into their weddings, but going all out with bold stripes of bright colors is fresh, modern and fun.

Take a look at our pictures below for some inspiration on how to seamlessly bring this trend from the runway to your reception.

These dresses by Jim Hjelm (#2528) make colorblocking easy, and come in a varitey of color combinations!

Wedding Inspiration: Bikes

Recently, while shopping for a gown, one of our brides told us that she needed a dress that would allow her to ride a tandem bike after the wedding. While this sounds out of the ordinary, wedding blogs and sites like Pinterest are filled with pictures of couples who have embraced their love of bikes and incorporated them as the theme of their wedding! Whether you are an avid biker or are just a lover of the environment, check out these cute ways other couples have used bikes as a backdrop for their big day.

Just In: Wtoo Bridal Gowns

A great surprise came in this week! Two brand new Wtoo bridal gowns arrived from the Spring collection and are now ready to try on at the boutique.

The Hannah Gown is a vision in ivory Parisian lace. The illusion neckline and lace-covered back are gorgeous details that make this dress both delicate and on-trend. The soft A-line is flattering on most figures, making this dress a dream for anyone wanting to look lovely in lace.

The Cyprus Gown has a gorgeous mermaid-style silhouette with a ruched bodice in English net. The soft lines of this dress make the drop waist flow into the simple, sweeping skirt. It is pictured with a satin beaded belt, but we think it would look great with some of our Jaxie belts too!

Wedding Inspiration: The 1920's

One of our brides just came in for a her bridal gown fitting and shared with us her vision for a decadent, Art Deco wedding, complete with fur stoles and lots of sparkle. We love the idea of a 1920s wedding, a time that was the pinnacle of style. With "The Great Gatsby" hitting theaters this month, it seems that the '20s are back in full swing. Check out the movie (and our pictures below) for inspiration on how to make your wedding a classic, vintage affair.

The Roma dress by Robert Bullock has delicate lace details that mirror 1920s style.

Pictures from the Bridal Race

We have plenty of brides who want to be comfortable in their wedding dress, but comfortable enough to run a race in their dress? That we haven't seen before.

Turns out, every year in Serbia a "Bridal Race" takes place, where brides to be strap on their running shoes and their dresses and sprint through the streets of Belgrade to the finish line. Their motivation to be the winner is of course wedding related, as the 1st place finisher wins an all-expenses-paid wedding. So as you can imagine, although the pictures are hilarious, the stakes are serious for these ladies. We have a feeling that plenty of brides we have met would run a few miles for a free wedding!

Enjoy the pictures below and read the full story about the "Bridal Race" here. Could you run a mile (or even a yard) in your wedding gown? Would you even want to? Let us know in the comments below.

Designer James Clifford Featured on the Rachel Ray Show

The Rachel Ray Show is known for featuring quick recipes and famous celebrities, but what really got our attention was its feature on wedding gowns! Recently, bride Lisa came on the show with a big problem - she still needed a dress. So with the help of "Say Yes to the Dress" host Lori Allen, they showed Lisa three gorgeous dresses. But it was the audience who ultimately got to pick which dress would walk down the aisle.

We would have loved this segment anyway, but what really caught our attention was the winning dress! It was a style by the designer James Clifford, and can be ordered at Miss Ruby. We were so proud that one of our designers was the audience favorite.

Check out the Rachel Ray Show segment, and if you want to wear a James Clifford gown that is sure to "WOW" the crowd at your own wedding, make an appointment at Miss Ruby Boutique during our James Clifford Trunk Show May 16-June 3. The event will feature a large selection of James Clifford gowns not normally in the boutique!

Celebrity Wedding: Keira Knightley

On May 4, fashionista and Anna Karenina star Keira Knightley married James Righton. The wedding took place in the South of France, and was reportedly a small affair with only close family and friends in attendance.

To match her intimate wedding, Knightley wore a relatively simple dress. Instead of a traditional floor-length gown, she opted instead for an elegant cocktail-length tulle dress. While it may have been understated, don't think it wasn't expensive - it is rumored to have been designed for the actress by Chanel designer and fashion legend Karl Lagerfield. She paired her dress with a cropped Chanel jacket and a simple crown of flowers in her hair.

The couple couldn't look happier (or more stylish) and we are loving that Kiera Knightley showed that a bride can look chic even without going over-the-top. If you want to look just like a movie star on your wedding day, Miss Ruby Boutique is ready to help. The Wtoo bridesmaids dresses pictured below are done in a delicate bobbinette, which mimics the tulle on Knightley's dress and will make you look just like a fashionista on your big day.
