Just In: Robert Bullock Sydney and Wtoo Allegra

We featured this gown on our Facebook page the day it arrived in store because we were loving its unique take on the classic ballgown shape, but we didn't give her a formal introduction on our blog!
Help us welcome Robert Bullock Sydney to our collection of bridal gowns!

Robert Bullock Sydney--one of our newest arrivals!
This gown features a strapless sweetheart neckline and is constructed of beautiful organza with a mix of lace. We love the high/low hemline on this gown - what makes it stand out from other dresses by far and the must have dress of any shoe-fanatic bride.

Wtoo Allegra is another one of our newest arrivals.  This gown is a standout for obvious reasons - definitely for the bride that is daring to be different!

Wtoo Allegra, new at Miss Ruby Bridal Boutique!
Featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline, Wtoo Allegra is constructed of Shimmering Tulle, it features a drop waist style and a ruffled tulle ball gown skirt.  Sampled in Antique, the dress can also be ordered in White or Ivory.

Helpful Pre-Wedding Fitness Ideas

Every bride wants to feel her best on her big day! You want to be able to celebrate without any concerns and enjoy the joyful celebration with your family and friends. Getting in wedding shape is not about a number on a scale or on the tag of your clothes - it's about feeling your absolute best so your beauty will shine through!

Here are some pre-wedding workout tips that are designed to help accentuate the areas showcased by the dress style you're wearing:

Strapless Gown
Robert Bullock Cora-- available to purchase at Miss Ruby
Focus on the upper body - nothing beats the good old fashioned push up! Other great ways to tone arms include boxing work outs and yoga.

Mermaid Gown
James Clifford J21322- available at Miss Ruby!
Focus on working your hips, thighs and backside - the essentials are squats and lunges for toning these areas. Another great workout to try when focusing on this area of your body is spinning or kickboxing for a total body workout!

Ballgown
Robert Bullock Petra--check out this stunning ballgown at Miss Ruby!

Focus on your abdominal area - this dress style really accentuates the waist. The best way to do this is plank exercises and crunches, anything to work your core! Looking for a more fun way of doing this? Take a dance or Zumba class - great for abdominal workouts.

Low Back Gowns
Robert Bullock Avery--one of our newest samples at Miss Ruby
Focus on your upper and lower back muscle - not always the easiest, but also a great way to improve posture!  A fun way to work this area: pull-ups or a rowing machine at the gym.  Swimming and yoga are other great workout ideas that will strengthen those back muscles.

We hope these ideas are helpful as you prep and plan for your big day, just remember if you start a fitness regimen, stick to it for at least 12 weeks to see a change or result and don't sweat the numbers game - looking great on your big day comes from within first and foremost!

Every so often we are lucky enough to have a guest blogger share some tips with our brides.  The following wedding hairstyle tips from George Street Photography are a must read for any bride!

Take a seat, because it’s time to talk about everybody’s favorite beauty topic — hair! The divine ‘do you sport on your wedding day will be one of the focal points of your bridal look, so it’s important to select a style that not only reflects your personality, but also pairs well with your gown and accessories.

With so many sweet styles and looks to choose from, we've decided to break it down and share a few ‘dos we think stand the test of time. Let’s get to it!

Photos found here and here
Timeless Low Chignon: If you’re the type of gal that swoons over an elegant black tie affair, then this sleek hairstyle is the one for you! The perfect fit for a formal occasion, a low chignon is sure to stay put as you make your way from the ceremony to the reception, while still looking ever-so-elegant. Add a twist to this simple style with a floral hair pin or diamond barrette.

Playful Side Ponytail: For the fun-loving lady who’s looking to try something different, a sweet side ponytail is the perfect way to play up a bridal beauty look! Consider giving volume to the crown of your hair for a little more ‘oomf, opt to style the ends with a curling iron or add a unique hair piece. This look is all about having fun, so get creative and make it your own!

Gorgeous loose curls and photography courtesty of George Street Photography!

Casual Loose Curls: Loose, blown-out waves are lovely for the casual girl who prefers a laid-back wedding day beauty look, as opposed to the traditional up-do. This style looks especially beautiful when paired with a cascading, finger-tip veil.

Elegant High Bun: Sophisticated and glamorous, a chic high bun is sure to be the statement-making feature of your wedding day look! Bonus points if you add a stunning cathedral veil to the back of the bun to amp up the wow factor.

Half-Up, Half-Down: Looking to get the best of both worlds? Sport a half-up, half-down bridal hairstyle! Try pinning the top section of your hair up into an intricate twist or pretty braid, while leaving the bottom section down to frame your face. Whether you opt for romantic curls or a sleek straight style, you’re free to style the bottom section of your hair to your heart’s content!

Another great shot from George Street Photography, capturing beautiful half up half down hairstyle!

Finally, don’t forget to stash extra bobby pins and plenty of hairspray in your back-up beauty kit (and ask your ‘maids to do the same)! Now, all that’s left to do is pick the style that best suits your wedding day vision and rock it! Dress of the Week: WTOO Pallas

This week's dress is a great option for any bride--it so easily translates from Boho to vintage glam, all with the simple addition of the right accessories and almost every bride that comes in gives this sample a try in her quest to find her dream gown!

The sheath silhouette is a sexy and classic shape for a wedding gown that never goes out of style and we love the lace pattern that has a chevron print to it!

Front View of WTOO Pallas

The deep V neck front of the dress is a flattering cut on all shapes and sizes, and the low dip in the back of the dress creates visual interest and is on trend with the upcoming wedding season!

Close up of the V-Neck front, check out the champagne lining!

We love the Champagne lining on this dress! It makes the intricate and unique lace pattern pop in natural light and adds a modern twist!

We are obsessed with the train on WTOO Pallas!
A super cute and unexpected touch: the lace overlay train extends past the lining to give a truly unique train!

WTOO Pallas is one of our favorites here at Miss Ruby Bridal Boutique-- she is perfect for the bride that wants to add unique elements to her classic style, wants to show off her boho personality, or needs the perfect blank canvas to make her Gatsby/vintage wedding theme shine through!

Tips for Mother of Occasion Dresses

Shopping when you're the mother of occasion can seem like a daunting task with all the options out there to choose from.  What can make it more difficult sometimes is the lack of options--whether the style feels dated or too risque, its hard to find that balance in the middle where Mom feels appropriate, but not like she has to dress way beyond her years.

This weekend April 17-19 we're having a Trunk Show from one of our favorite designers for stylish and chic Moms-- Siri.  Here are some great options for Moms for the upcoming summer and fall wedding seasons!

Spring/Summer Wedding
Great to focus on cocktail length dresses in a variety of lighter fabrics like a beautiful chiffon or a breathable silk shantung--Check some of these Siri styles out!

Siri The Ivy Dress with Florettes--shown in a Silk Shantung, we love the neckline on this one!

Siri's Glissando Dress has a great printed fabric that is sure to stun at any Summer wedding

Effortlessly chic is a great way to describe the one shoulder Laguna Dress by Siri, the chiffon is perfect for a summer day, but this style is also available in a floor length gown as well!

Siri Coral Gables Dress is the perfect shift style for the summer, and we love the mix print of rose embroidery with the plain top--its modern and classic at the same time!

Fall/Winter Wedding
A great opportunity for Mom's to go with either cocktail or floor length--the focus should be on luxe structured fabrics in rich warm or cool colors to go with the season!

We love the rich blue hue of the Siri Concerto Gown--as well as the trumpet silhouette.

The Four Seasons Dress by Siri is just that-- perfect for all seasons with a sheath style cut and boat-neck collar--shown in Metallic Melange fabric, it would be the perfect dress for Mom for a winter/New Year's wedding!
