Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid
Every year a new color of the year is announced by Pantone as their color of the year. This choice impacts not only fashion, but home decorations, flowers and just about every other industry!
This choice is determined not at random but by a lot of market research and other factors, so the choice of this year's color- Radiant Orchid- was after careful consideration.

Dress of the Week: James Clifford J11441
This week's dress of the week comes courtesy of the James Clifford Collection and is one of our newest samples from their most recent collection-- style J11441!
This strapless style is a modified mermaid silhouette and has an all over lace pattern. The lace itself is very unique and intricate--a staple of the James Clifford collection! The sweetheart neckline and hemline both feature scalloped lace as a beautiful detail, and the dress itself has a beaded natural waistline (although in the photos we added a James Clifford belt for even more sparkle!) The train on this dress is chapel length and creates just the right amount of drama for your walk down the aisle!

We love the scalloped lace along the hemline--so detailed! |
Buttons down the back add the perfect amount of vintage glam to this gown! Plus notice the beading along the natural waist! |
This dress is perfect for the bride that loves unique details on classic silhouettes--the mermaid fit is gorgeous on so many body types! The uniqueness of the lace will let the bride stand out on her big day and fit wonderfully into a variety of venues--from traditional to outdoor!

Dress of the Week: Mikaella 1864
Our dress of the week comes courtesy of the newest design line we carry at Miss Ruby Bridal Boutique--Mikaella! Style 1864 has been a hit with recent brides so it seemed fitting to feature her this week.
The all lace gown features cap sleeves, a v-neckline and a low back. It has a beaded empire bodice, featuring scalloped lace along the seam. The skirt is a fit and flare style with a sweep train--check out some of the pictures of this gorgeous gown in our boutique!

We are loving the fit on this dress--it's a sexy and sophisticated cut that's trendy, but is also so classic and timeless that you won't regret making this your wedding dress!
We picture Mikaella 1864 as the perfect dress to fit your vintage or rustic wedding theme, but with the right accessories, there's no reason why this stunner wouldn't be beautiful as a glamorous old Hollywood themed wedding too!

Wedding Theme: Black and White
There's always a certain risk involved in planning a wedding around a theme that may be too trendy and not relevant years from now when you want to reflect on your big day, but it's pretty safe to say that black and white will always be in style!
Choosing to go Black and White for your big day adds a level of glamour and formality to the event and provides your guests with the feeling that they're a part of a Hollywood style celebration. Take a look at some pictures we found on the web on how to make your Black and White wedding dreams a reality!
Intricate, formal invitations give a great preview for what guest should expect--like these found on Pinterest |

Seeing some ideas you love? We think the best way to do a Black and White wedding is in the subtle details--even incorporating Ivory, Cream, Gold and other neutrals to help offset the stark difference can add that personal touch to your elegant affair! Don't be afraid to bring in pops of vivacious colors too and most of all have fun!
We hope no matter what theme or color palate you go with for your big day, your personal details shine through and it's everything you planned it out to be!

Picking the Perfect Little White Dress
The Little White Dress is a great asset to any brides big day--we love the idea of wearing it at the rehearsal dinner as a great preview to what guests can expect from your gown or the theme of your big day!
Here's a few options on how to convey that message subtly to your guests without having to sacrifice the look of surprise on everybody's face!
Planning on a ball gown or a vintage or rustic themed big day? Check out Watters Encore Alder. This adorable a-line style is so sweet! The lace brocade pattern has a great vintage feel to it, and the full skirt is an adorable cocktail party version of a ball gown.
Destination wedding? Check out Watters Iris! Featuring a flattering v-neck cut, slim skirt and sweet key-hole cut out back, this Little White Dress is the perfect fit for a beautiful warm destination rehearsal dinner (or honeymoon).
Over the top glam wedding in your cards? Or are you the type of bride that loves to be trendy and on top of her fashion game? Look no further than Alvina Valenta 9420. Sampled in a soft blush color and featuring tulle and Chantilly lace--this is the perfect rehearsal dinner dress to set the tone for a glamorous big day!
There are so many options when picking the perfect Little White Dress for whatever pre or post wedding activities you're planning to have--tying in the theme from your big day or gown style is a great way to keep a cohesive look for your activities and provide you with beautiful photos to last you a lifetime!

Chicago National Bridal Market
At the beginning of April, we visited the Merchandise Mart in Chicago for one of our favorite times of the year: Bridal Market! Check out some of our pics from our hard work during our trip!
It's such an exciting time for us to get to see the new styles from our designers - we were definitely in love with so many things, it made the decision process of what to buy difficult, but the good news is that everything was so great, we couldn't have made a bad choice!
Hard at work making decisions on which Robert Bullock dresses to add to our collection! |

A preview of some of Watters new Fall 2014 Bridesmaids dresses! |
A preview of a new gown for Fall 2014 from Wtoo--think you'll see this one at Miss Ruby? You'll have to wait and see! |
We don't want to give away too much in the interest of the designers hard work and when they'll be unveiling their Fall collections but we can say that you won't be disappointed! So many new and unique styles with classic elegance. One trend we were seeing across the board was a focus on interesting backs, whether they dipped low or featured intricate details!
Check back at our blog to see more pictures in the next weeks showcasing what we saw from our other designers Mikaella and James Clifford!
